This is the first time I’ve tried phrasing a passage. The phrases have me a little confused. Should I pull the genitive, relative, and subordinate phrases out of the verse (so that I can see the simple idea) or just put them in lines of their own? Below, I pulled the phrases out of the verse, but I’m not sure if this just makes it confusing to look at.

    And … there were shepherds
    ^ in the same region
    out in the field,
    keeping watch … by night.
    ^ over their flock
